Brief summary and personal reflection on the story
This book is a story of an old professor who was dying because of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis(ALS). And the Author is one of the students of the professor. The professor talks about 'Life' and 'Death' with his student Mitch. So we can say that this book is the last lesson of professor Morrie.
'Tuesdays with Morrie' gave me much more thing than I had got from all the other books and lectures. The priceless lesson by an old professor who faced to the death told me a lot of things that I had forgotten during my life. I have lived my life just like Mitch`s (I mean Mitch before visit the professor).
The family, friends and people who love me were all the second thing to me.
I behaved only for myself, thought only my self so sometimes hurt people around me. And now, I am so ashamed by my behaviors that I had done in the past. I had forgotten one of the most important things in my whole life.
'Love, Forgiveness, Compassion, Passion and Sincerity.' I did not love somebody by my all heart. I have not forgave somebody in my heart. I might had compassion in somebody but I did not anything. I did not have any passion whenever I work. Lastly, I did not made a relationship from the bottom of my heart. I always had a fear from people. Also, I was always afraid of getting a wound in my mind. So there were always a invisible barrier between me and other people. I made that barrier and became more and more lonely. 'Tuesdays with Morrie' helped me to set a new vision in my life. In the audiovisual, part three Morrie said, "Love each other or die." I think this 'Love' can be related to 'Sincerity'. As we can see in the book. There are a lot of people that loves Morrie. It might be because of Morrie`s Love and Sincerity. He always loved people and saw people with his whole heart. Morrie`s mind like that will be the reason of his many friends.
Thanks to this book I realized that love and sincerity is the most important thing to live as a happy person. Also I was so touched after saw the Morrie`s life. He dedicated his whole life to study. He did the best to live his life without regret. I can feel that Morrie thought that he lived as hard as he can do at the lesson on the seventh Tuesday 'The fear of aging'. Mitch asked to Morrie "How do you keep from envying?" Mitch`s saying means that how the professor can do not envy the youth of young people. Then, the professor said, "How can I be envious of where you are-when I`ve been there myself." At this point, I can think that Morrie must have lived his life with strong passion and now he do not have any regret to his life. I hope that I can also say like that when I become very old like Morrie had been.
Now I closed the book. I feel like there are a warm light that is turned on right now in deep inside my mind. I was happy because I met Morrie while I read this book. Although he passed away, I can feel that he is always with me. He gave me the meaning of a valuable life and taught me how should I live my life. He said he wanted to inscribe his gravestone with 'A Teacher to the Last'. And I want to say this. "Professor Morrie. You are also my teacher to the last."
